Lenovo touchpad not working, Here's how to fix it :
Many laptop users are troubled by the “Lenovo touchpad not working” issue. They touch the touchpad on their laptop, but nothing happens. Don’t worry if you are having the same problem as them. Try these ways.
The Ways To Solve This Problem Are:
1) Turn On The Touchpad
2) Reinstall Or Update The Touchpad Driver.
3) Try Lenovo Support
* Keep in mind that the first two methods described above can’t be used because your touchpad is broken; instead, you’ll need a different pointing device, such as a mouse. *
1. Turn On The Touchpad If Off :
Your Lenovo laptop touchpad may have been mistakenly disabled by you or someone else, in which case it will no longer function. Re-enabling the touchpad will solve the issue.
Start by doing this:
- Press the touchpad button on your keyboard which is bound to the f6 key.
- Do so without holding the Fn (Function key).

It should re-enable the touchpad.
If that doesn’t work, turn it on by from touchpad settings by pressing win key and searching for it from there.

Now enable it as shown in the figure to resolve the “Lenovo touchpad not working issue”.

Alternatively, you can also try this :
- Press the Windows logo and R keys on the keyboard at the same time to open the Run dialog. Then type “control” and hit Enter. This will open Control Panel.

- In Control Panel, find and open Mouse.

- On the Mouse Properties window, select the last tab. (The last tab is usually for touchpad configuration if you have a touchpad, and its name varies with the models of the laptop.) Then you should find the switch (a check box or a button) to enable your touchpad.

2. Reinstall Or Update The Lenovo Touchpad Driver :
Faulty drivers are frequently to blame for problems with the “Lenovo touchpad not working” issues. To fix issues of this nature, you must update or reinstall your touchpad driver. Dealing with drivers, while necessary, may occasionally be quite difficult and time-consuming. You must independently locate the best drivers for your machine and install them step by step.
- Making sure you have the most recent driver updates is the first thing to do if your Lenovo laptop’s touchpad isn’t working.
- Go to support.lenovo.com in your internet browser to install or update the touchpad driver. Enter the model name of your computer in the search box, for instance, “ThinkPad T450.” This gives you access to all of your machine model’s resources and services.
- Simply select Drivers & software from the menu bar. Make sure the operating system is right if it appears at the top of the list. In that case, select the appropriate option from the drop-down menu.
Choose Mouse and Keyboard from the Components menu.
To display the available drivers, click on Mouse and Keyboard. In some cases, such as in this illustration, you may identify the touchpad driver by its name, such as “Synaptics” or “Elan”.
To check whether yours is “Synaptics” or “Elan”, try this:
- Search for the device manager by pressing the win key and opening it.
- Check for “Synaptics” or “Elan” in the Mice and other pointing devices section.

- Right-click on all the devices there and check their properties to confirm the device id.
- Cross-check the underlined part and see if its something like that.

Once you have made sure which one is yours out of the two, continue with the following steps and download those drivers and not the other one to solve the “Lenovo touchpad not working” issue.
- Click Download, then click Run. Once the download is completed, you will be prompted to install the driver. Follow the instructions to complete the installation.
- If the driver installs correctly but the touchpad is still not working, or if you do not find a touchpad driver, make sure the touchpad is enabled. You can check out our video on how to enable or disable the touchpad.
It may also happen that your touchpad sensitivity is set too low and making you think there is a problem.
Go to the touchpad settings and increase the sensitivity. To open the touchpad settings in Windows 10, type “touchpad” in the search box, and then click on Touchpad settings. Adjust the touchpad sensitivity using the drop-down list. If you are using Windows 7, go check our videos on how to do the same on your Lenovo or ThinkPad laptop.
3. Try Lenovo Support For "LENOVO TOUCHPAD NOT WORKING" Issue :
If none of the aforementioned solutions work for you, the issue can be a hardware malfunction or something you are unable to handle on your own. Find a specialist to handle the issue for you in either scenario. You should definitely get in touch with Lenovo customer service. They can assist you in coming up with a workable solution or in getting your laptop fixed or replaced.
